WASHINGTON YOUTH CUTTING CLUB
"We Ride With Pride"

The first meeting of the WCHA Youth Cutting Club was held at the April Bonina show. Members were eager and full of many ideas. Lead by adult leader, Jennifer Sleeman, they discussed friendship, fundraising, and fun things to do at the shows. They chose a slogan: "We ride with Pride."

Here is reporter Josey's account of the weekend as told to Haylee.
Yesterday was a good show day. Haylee, Alexa, Grace, Bo, Emma, Maddie, and Tamara all rode. It was a wonderful show day for the youth. In the meeting it was wonderful. We are going to start doing fundraisers and with the money we will have a party. The rest goes to the club. We will have our pictures on the website. We are going to elect officiers. I, Josey, had a wonderful time in the meeting.

Rhyan Huber age 5 Sedro Wooley, WA
Rhyan likes playing outside in the grass and on swings. Art is a favorite school subject. She likes her sister's horse and is looking forward to cutting when she is six. |

Wen Huber age 10 Sedro Wolley,WA
Wen will turn eleven in May. Jumping on the trampoline at home and playing with friends at cutting shows are two things he enjoys doing. He is very excited about the Youth Club. Wen loves writing in his journal and art. When he grows up he would like to be an actor. |

Josey Howard age 6 Roy, WA
Josey's favorite horse is Paint. She likes riding horses, history and the song, "Party in the USA" by Miley Sirus. Josey doesn't like tomatoes but she does like "Dolly" their dog. |

Jace Howard age 4 Roy, WA
Jace will be five in August. Paint is Jace's favorite horse. He loves to rope. Grandpa Jeff and Uncle Jesse are his rope partners. |

Nathaniel Solis age 9 Kennewick, WA
Nathaniel loves their cats; Cedar, Pumpkin, and Blue. He enjoys and is good at video games. He says playing with friends at horseshows is fun. |

Samuel Solis age 13 Kennewick, WA
Samuel has many things he likes but he loves playing his violin. He has been playing for about five years. He was very young around three when he first heard a violin and knew it was special. He also enjoys playing with friends and is always happy. He likes being funny and entertaining. |

Jayden Kennedy age 6 Hermiston, OR
Jayden is the grandson of Scott and Sharon Tullis. He showed papa's horse, Plank, at the Moses Lake cutting. He loves snakes and wants to grow up and have a TV show starring him as the Snake Wrangler. |

Tamara Gracia age 8 Bellevue, WA
Tamara's favorite activities are riding horses, playing soccer, reading, drawing and science. Her horse is kept at the home of Doug and De Leigh, her grandparents, in Dearpark. She plans to spend a lot of summer days there with the horses and her cousin, Maddie. |

Maddie Schott age 9 Dearpark, WA
Maddie enjoys many activities including running track, soccer and riding horses. She barrel races and just started cutting. She says cutting is the opposite of barrels which is all about speed and in cutting you have to stay at the head of the cow. Another favorite passtime is reading the Nancy Drew Mystery and Phantom Stallion series. |

Haylee Sleeman age 10 Yelm, WA
Haylee's big into basketball and will play on a summer league. She would like to be a professional basketball player. She loves horses and cutting. She will be showing at the Western Nationals riding Sloe Gins Dual Nic. PE and Music are her favorite school subjects. |

Bodeen Sleeman age 8 Yelm, WA
Bodeen likes jumping on the trampoline and coming to shows to play with friends. He was on a football team this year and had a great time. Dad was a coach. Other activities he enjoys are swimming and fishing. Science and writing are his favorite school subjects. He likes riding Kimmy. Bo will be at the Western Nationals cheering for his friends who are competing. |

Alexa Dahl age 13 Bremerton, WA
Alexa just got a new horse, Odeeodle Oak. She is very excited about riding her at the Western Nationals. Alexa appreciates the help she has received from trainers Jason Schaper and Greg Smith. This will be her second time to show at Ogden. She will turn fourteen while there. She would like people to know she likes helping others. |

Grace Paul age 11 George, WA
Grace will be showing Somebodys Cupcake at the Western Nationals. This will be the her first time to show there. She is big into math and likes soccer. Grace is home schooled by her Mom. She would like people to know she is very dedicated to her family, horses and God. |

Emma Lanning age 13 Ellensburg, WA
Emma enjoys riding horses and competes in barrel racing, pole bending, cutting and goat tieing. John Paul is her cutting trainer. Science and social studies are her favorite subjects in school. She also enjoys playing basketball. |

Tice Hiner age 7 Tice enjoys anything with a motor, especially tractors and boats! He likes the outdoors for fishing and hunting. He gets to go fishing a lot with his Papa. Tice also likes to play basketball and football. He enjoys going to the horse shows to play with his friends. Tice’s horse is named Easy. |
